Hasil Diskusi dengan Guru Matematika Internasional tentang Perbedaan Matematika untuk Dewasa dan Anak




Dear all,

Berikut adalah kesimpulan sementara hasil diskusi dengan beberapa Guru Matematika Internasional tentang Perbedaan Matematika untuk orang dewasa dan anak kecil:

Marsigit Dr MA, Lecturer at Yogyakarta State University, concludes the following:

"I am sad to find that most of math teachers around the world are unable to differentiate between adults and young math. That's why from time to time, at every educational context, there are always bad news of math teaching practices in term of students' participation and motivation.

Hereby I wish to blame the currently educational systems including recruitment system of math teachers and the system they are prepared to be a math teachers.In the big countries or in the West, this circumstances is very significant.

Therefore, I wish also to blame the currently state that Pure Math and Pure Sciences have been too deep and too far intervening Math Teaching; because significantly, they do not able to perform their accountability in their involvement in Math teaching.

Further, I may label the Pure Math and Pure Science as a Golden Kids of contemporary Power Now; in which not only big countries but also the small ones are now in the state of emergency, confusing, hegemonic, and not in a healthy interaction each other.

The only victim of this situation are the younger learner. They are the victim of adult ambitions (Pure Math, Pure Science through their system and the teachers inside) in the name of technology and contemporary life. That's why we then found that there are more and more unpredictable phenomena reflecting the students' under pressure by their adults.

I wish to call Math teachers who still have their empathy to their young generation to think critically and to do anything to change the situation.

Math teachers should stand beside their young learner and to protect them from inappropriate adults behavior in which their thinking are full of motive and ambitions."

  1. Setiap jenjang usia tentu memiliki perbedaan dalam belajar, demikian juga pembelajaran matematika untuk orang dewasa dan anak-anak. Menyikapi dan menyadari perbedaan itu adalah hal penting bagi seorang pengajar supaya tidak terjadi pembebanan yang berlebihan untuk usia yang tidak sepadan.

  2. Salah satu contoh perbedaan yang ada adalah pada anak-anak, pembelajaran matematika adalah sesuatu yang sifatnya spontan. Beda halnya dengan pada orang dewasa yang sesuai perkembangan psikologisnya menyuruk jauh lebih dalam aspek-aspek matematika itu sendiri. Pada titik inilah pembebanan yang tak sesuai usia akan terjadi ketika pola pengajaran orang dewasa diterapkan untuk anak-anak.
